Materials and Methodology

Learn about the materials and methodology we use at English Vallbona to help our students learn English effectively and funnily.

At English Vallbona, all courses follow in-house and tailor-made materials. I myself, Esther, spent many years working at academies where I held the role of coordinator of the English or foreign languages department. Long before opening my own academy, I had already started writing my own materials and books, which I have been using, updating, and perfecting every year since the 2016–2017 school year.

These materials and methodology are based on:

  • Covering all areas of foreign language learning with uniform depth:
  • Allowing different school years of similar age to follow the same material, with the aim of ensuring that no student remains stuck at a specific level for more than two years. This means achieving all levels (ranging from beginner to native level) in a minimum period of 6 years and a maximum of 12. Applicable to all courses except intensive ones, where progress is faster.
  • Allowing students who started the course at different times of the year to be placed in the same group. This feature is especially designed to accommodate the situations of adult students and those over 16 of any profile: private students, companies, conversation classes…
  • Allowing the constant adaptation of lessons to the interests and needs of the student: projects and activities have an open structure, which allows all classes and lessons to revolve around the practical and real use of the language by the student or group of students.

In the case of children and teenagers, the adaptation is geared toward their personal tastes and often also toward improving their school English. In the case of adult students, this feature allows them to learn the English necessary for their specific goals, whether related to work or personal life.

Small groups at an affordable price: all group-format courses follow this principle, allowing up to 6 students in person and up to 8 in the online format.
